Gig Photography.

I occasionally take photos at Corporation in Sheffield for local bands. I believe this particular one was from January, but I can't remember the exact date and the bands that played other than A Season Of Secrets and For Our Futures. Don't have the ticket for it either since I had a wristband. This was one of the best photos of the night, and seeing as though it was one of my first gig photography experiences, I'm quite proud of it. I could do with a better camera but I lack money and a well-paid job.

I take photos of bands with my camera.

So this is my friend Adam, former member of Secret Romance (mentioned in my last blog entry). This photo hasn't been edited because I never got round to doing a batch edit of my photos, but it was taken at Corporation Sheffield around 2 months ago. Adam's currently working on a new project with another band, but for the moment I can't really say much about it. He's such a good friend and when I can give details about his new band I shall post a link and a review of them and their material.

However, I have seen Secret Romance play Corporation twice and it's safe to say that with their heavy sound and fast-paced melodies, they could do well in Sheffield. The vocals could be slightly stronger and other minor tweaks could be made, but for now they're doing relatively well. I suggest listening to Just A Boy and Holy Oath. The guitar is quite good, and Adam's solo in Holy Oath is fine-tuned and perfected. The links to these songs are on the Music tab of their Facebook page.

There isn't really much more I can say about this band other than if you can get to a show to see them, I'd definitely recommend it. They put on an amazing show and interact with the audience, which even some major bands don't even bother to do. They create a fantastic atmosphere and get the crowd moving, and I can't wait to see them again.

Hi, my name's Meagan.

So this is my first post and I'm not sure what to write about.

I guess my main musical influences would have to be My Chemical Romance (recently split), Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg and Miles Kane. I'm not sure how to classify the first few bands, but I'm definitely getting back into indie music. I think that's mainly because my boyfriend listens to so much indie music.

I like local music. Living in Sheffield, there's definitely an element of diversity within the music that's produced here. Personally I prefer bands such as A Season Of Secrets and Dead Harts (DH supported While She Sleeps). Both are local bands and are doing amazing things for our local scene and have supported relatively well-known bands as well as touring the UK frequently.

I guess this blog's going to be about the music I'm currently listening to, as well as gigs I go to. I try and get to at least one gig a month, but it's difficult having college work and a job. My first few blog entries are probably going to be about the gigs I've been to over the past 2 years or so.These range from The Wombats to All Time Low to Asking Alexandria, as well as more local bands such as For Our Futures and Secret Romance. If you have time, check them out as they're my friends' bands and they're pretty decent.

Love,

Meagan xo
